Ode To The Avocado

I'm slightly, ok you got me, I'm completely obsessed with avocados.

I've incorporated them into my daily diet,

not only because they're delicious and versatile,

but also because they are so incredibly good for you!!!

Soooo many people that I've come in contact with and that I've worked with are literally afraid to eat avocados because "they're so fattening".

I used to be one of those people mySelf! Sigh.

I'm here to tell you that there's no need to fear the avocado lovies!!!

This thing about the fat in avocados is both true and untrue.

This week I'll be posting facts about the amazing nutritional value of avocados, as well as some delicious recipes.

This will be my Ode To The Avocado...

So technically yes, avocados are high in fat, however, HOWEVERRRRR...

It is healthy fat and everyone benefits from healthy fat in their diet.

One fun fact:

Avocados can actually lower your cholesterol!*

Yep, you heard me right!

Here's the thing my sweet loves...moderation!

I eat half an avocado a day to keep the doctor away.

Forget apples! Actually don't, I'm all about the awesomeness of apples too, but A is for avocado for this girl!

Avocados are cram~packed with healthy nutrients and are, by far, one of the most nutrient rich gifts from Mother Earth!

So add some of these yummy little magical fruits to your grocery list this week and I'll get working on those recipes for ya!

"Avocados are a great source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat?a type of fat that may actually help to raise levels of HDL ("good"cholesterol) while lowering levels of LDL ("bad" cholesterol). And these delectable green orbs pack more of the cholesterol-smashing beta-sitosterol (a beneficial plant-based fat) than any other fruit. Beta-sitosterol reduces the amount of cholesterol absorbed from food. So the combination of beta-sitosterol and monounsaturated fat makes the avocado an excellent cholesterol buster."
